“There is a vast difference between the first session that I did compared to the last one I did a few weeks ago. The first session was about 10 years ago, so I’ve not only changed physically but also mentally. I’ve grown a lot and have really embraced these sessions as a marker to show myself how far I’ve come. I went from being a nervous, shy, and ‘trying to look perfect to impress others’ person to a much more confident, self-loving, and ‘accepting my flaws no matter what they may be’ person. I go back and look at some of my first albums and can see the difference and how much I’ve grown.”

“I’ve continued to book sessions to remind myself that I’m beautiful, sexy, and confident even if I don’t fit the typical model mold. I’ve done a few different sessions and each one turns out better than the last. It’s a reminder of how far I’ve come and how far I can go if I just believe and love myself.”

What She’s Learned Through Boudoir

When C first started, she didn’t know what to expect.

“I didn’t know anything about boudoir before my first session and had no idea what I was walking into when I booked the first one. It’s intimidating at first, but the girls make you feel so comfortable and glamorous that you forget about the nerves and just go for it. Each session teaches me something new about myself and pushes me to try new sets, poses, and outfits that may be out of my comfort zone.”

That willingness to step out of her comfort zone has made each session even more rewarding.

“My favorite part would be the lasting friendships that I’ve developed with the girls. How close I’ve become with them and how they never judge, no matter what the circumstances are.”

Pushing Boundaries & Trying New Styles

C has explored different themes with each session, keeping the experience fresh and exciting.

“I’ve done a bridal session, shower/bubble bath theme, the pink sofa set, black and white theme, etc. Each time my hair and makeup have been different, so it’s fun to see the pictures and different looks.”

She also takes the time to mentally and physically prepare before each session. “I think about what colors the sets are so I can pick outfits that either match the theme or stand out. I also write down positive affirmations to remind myself why I’m doing the session and who I’m doing it for. It keeps me in a positive headspace.”

Her Most Empowering Moment

Boudoir has given C moments she’ll never forget.

“During this last session, I was beyond nervous because it had been a few years since I had done one and wasn’t sure how the outfits would play out. Once my hair and makeup were done, everything started to fall into place. Seeing myself in the mirrors and receiving encouragement from Miranda made me feel like the most beautiful person in the world. That empowerment showed in the photos, and I absolutely love that Miranda was able to capture that for me.”

C isn’t slowing down anytime soon—she has big plans for future sessions! “I envision my future sessions to be a little more on the risqué side as far as outfits and props go. I’m excited to try the shower theme, black light theme, holiday theme, and any other adventurous themes that may come up.”

Inspiring Others to Take the Leap

For anyone hesitant about booking a session, C hopes her journey inspires them to go for it.

“I hope that my story encourages others who are scared to try a boudoir session. The more sessions I do, the more confident and comfortable I become with myself and my body. I’m not a size zero and I’m definitely not 5’6”, but I’ve learned to accept what sets me apart through these sessions. Building confidence with each one and seeing the transformation over the years has been incredible.”
