Inevitably you have heard of pin up photography or “pin up” girls! It is such a fun area of boudoir photography for Le Boudoir Studio in Tempe, Arizona. What is a pin up girl and where did this style come from anyway? By definition; a “pin-up girl” is a woman whose physical attractiveness would persuade someone to place a picture of her on a wall. Many “pin ups” were photographs of celebrities who were considered sex symbols. The idea of the “pin up girl” started in the 1940’s being made most famous by awesome ladies such as Bettie Page and Betty Grable. The racy photos were posted in lonely serviceman’s lockers, barracks and even sides of planes to boost morale during World War II.
In today’s society, racy photos and pin up photography are all the rage and widely accepted. Hence the coined term “sex sells”. We give major kudos to the early pin up ladies as that must have taken such bravery and confidence to be the pioneers of sexy photography. They really helped pave the way for niches of glamour photography such as boudoir photography and pin up photography and we are oh so thankful!
