Boudoir Pin Up Costumes and Photography by Le Boudoir Studio in Tempe, Arizona

March 8, 2013

Inevitably you have heard of pin up photography or “pin up” girls! It is such a fun area of boudoir photography for Le Boudoir Studio in Tempe, Arizona. What is a pin up girl and where did this style come from anyway? By definition; a “pin-up girl” is a woman whose physical attractiveness would persuade someone to place a picture of her on a wall. Many “pin ups” were photographs of celebrities who were considered sex symbols. The idea of the “pin up girl” started in the 1940’s being made most famous by awesome ladies such as Bettie Page and Betty Grable. The racy photos were posted in lonely serviceman’s lockers, barracks and even sides of planes to boost morale during World War II.

In today’s society, racy photos and pin up photography are all the rage and widely accepted. Hence the coined term “sex sells”. We give major kudos to the early pin up ladies as that must have taken such bravery and confidence to be the pioneers of sexy photography. They really helped pave the way for niches of glamour photography such as boudoir photography and pin up photography and we are oh so thankful! Le Boudoir Studio’s owner Jodi Lynn is absolutely a vintage lov-ah; whether it is clothing, furniture or decoration. She is always looking for items that fit into her vintage obsession by frequently visiting antique stores in and around Phoenix, Arizona. One thing Jodi Lynn absolutely loves besides boudoir photography is pin up photography for the Tempe, Scottsdale and Phoenix ladies.

Whenever a lady comes to Le Boudoir Studio with the idea of a pin up photography session; Jodi Lynn’s face lights up! From the poses, facial expressions and outfits that come with this type of photography…Jodi Lynn is in heaven! She loves the idea of tapping into girls inner Betty Grable or whoever else may inspire them into the vintage photography spectrum. One of the most fun parts of a choosing to do a pinup photography session is that you get to choose a theme and some fun props for your shoot! Think….red wagons, old bathtubs, blowing bubbles, bikes, bubble gum, red lips….the sky is the limit!

Check out Gretchen’s adorable pin up shoot below; our favorites include the blowing bubbles pictures!
